1st Grade – Day 1
First Grade’s community partner is the Austin Police Academy. Today they visited the cadets and encouraged them in their training journey. The students also got to see demonstrations from police trainers, including the horse and dog teams! When asked what their impact was today, the first graders said, “we served the police officers and they probably feel happy now.” We saw students reflect the love of Christ by showing thankfulness to our real life heroes- police officers! They brought Christ’s joy to the station with smiles, hugs, and lots of high fives for the cadets in training.

“I helped police officers by giving them gifts and cheering for them.” – Reagan
Team Bahamas- First Grade, March 14, 2019
First grade had an amazing Thursday! We had such a fun time teaching other grades about the Bahamas in the cultural fair. We watched a live cam of under the ocean, talked about different traditions in the Bahamas, and helped others make “Junkanoo” masks. 1st grade also enjoyed moving from classroom to classroom and learning about different countries! We tried new foods, learned about new cultures, played games, and made crafts.
Team Bahamas- First Grade, March 13, 2019
Today first grade learned about some valuable organizations in Austin, Food in Tummies and Partnerships for Children. We made finishing touches for our Bahamas room to display tomorrow at cultural fair. 1st grade is really excited to share what they learned with the rest of 4K-2nd grade.
Later in the day, we went on a prayer walk with middle school and 4K where we walked around the neighborhood and passed out encouraging notes. We also prayed for the people in the neighborhood. Our first graders were so excited to get paired up with a 4K and middle school buddy! 1st grade also worked on some notes of encouragement for the Music team, which they will hand out tomorrow. We are looking forward to two more fun days of Go Week!
